Our Story

Atlantic waves on Donegal shore

The Brant Goose

Each autumn, the light-bellied Brant goose returns to Donegal's shores from the far Arctic — a homecoming, a sacred rhythm echoing through time.

Their deep connection to Donegal's salt-marsh and sky echoes the traveller's return — drawn not just to beauty, but to something deeper. A sense of self, of connection, of home.

At Donegal Manor, we understand that pull. Like the faithful goose, those who visit are drawn to reconnect — with family, with friends, with the land, and with themselves.

The Manor

Built in 2003 on land that's been in the Breslin family for over a century, Donegal Manor began as a labour of love by Michael and Sian Breslin.

Over the years, it became a beloved guesthouse, known for its spacious rooms, deep local knowledge, and the warm, personal touch that defined every guest's stay. As we evolve the Manor's interiors, services, and brand, we remain committed to meeting modern expectations while staying true to our original spirit of heartfelt Irish hospitality.

The Land & Donegal

Donegal sits at Ireland's northwestern edge — a place where the wild Atlantic meets ancient mountains, where mist rolls across boglands and light dances on endless shores. This is a land shaped by wind and water, steeped in Celtic heritage and living tradition.

From the sea cliffs of Slieve League to the golden beaches of Rossnowlagh, from the Gaeltacht villages where Irish is still spoken to the vibrant heart of Donegal Town — there's a magic here that draws visitors back, season after season.

The Breslin Family

The land beneath Donegal Manor has been in the Breslin family for over a century. When Michael and Sian Breslin built the Manor in 2003, they weren't just creating a guesthouse — they were honouring a legacy and opening their home to the world.

Today, that same spirit of family runs through everything we do. From the warm welcome at check-in to the local tips shared over breakfast, we treat every guest as we would family returning home.

What We Believe

We believe in genuine interactions over transactional hospitality. In sharing deep local knowledge freely. In creating spaces where you're encouraged to slow down, not rush through.

We're constantly evolving to meet our guests' needs while staying true to who we are — a family-run guesthouse where Irish heritage meets contemporary comfort, and every guest leaves feeling like they've found something worth returning to.
