What time is check-in/check-out?
Check in: 3pm. Check out: 11am.
What's the cancellation policy?
Our cancellation policies vary depending on your booking type. For room bookings made directly through our website, we offer a Direct Booking Exclusive policy: cancel free of charge up to 14 days before arrival, with no payment taken until 7 days before your stay. We also offer a non-refundable rate for those looking for the best price. If booking through an OTA such as Booking.com or Expedia, we offer both a non-refundable policy and a flexible policy that allows free cancellation up to 7 days before check-in. For exclusive use bookings, a 25% non-refundable deposit confirms your booking. Cancel more than 30 days before arrival and no further payment is required. Within 30 days, the full amount is non-refundable.
Is there parking?
Yes, we offer ample free parking on our premises.
What facilities do you have for cooking?
Cooking facilities depend on your booking type. For exclusive use bookings, you have full access to a professional stainless steel kitchen. This large modern kitchen is fully fitted with a fridge, freezer, oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, hand mixer, sinks, and ample work surfaces for cooking for up to 30 guests. Hotel quality glassware, crockery, cutlery, saucepans, knives, and all cooking essentials are provided. We can also organise breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for your group.
For individual room bookings, the Residence Suite includes its own kitchen equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, pots and pans, and utensils.
What are the advantages of staying in a guesthouse?
Staying at a guesthouse like Donegal Manor gives you the best of both worlds: hotel-quality comfort in a more intimate, peaceful setting. Our rooms are beautifully decorated and as comfortable as any hotel, but with far fewer guests you enjoy a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere. As an owner-managed property, we take pride in personalised service — whether that’s recommending the best local restaurants and hidden gems, or simply giving you space to unwind. You have your own key to come and go as you please, and after a day exploring Donegal, you return to a tranquil home away from home.
Is there laundry service?
For exclusive use bookings, we have a fully fitted laundry room available for guests. The laundry room is conveniently located next to the bedrooms on the 1st floor. This facility is not available for individual room bookings.
Can I smoke in the room?
All rooms are strictly non-smoking as is the building itself.
How far away are you from wedding venues?
We are perfectly located for guests attending local weddings. Both Harvey's Point Country Hotel and Lough Eske Castle are just 15 minutes by car. Both Abbey and Central Hotel also just 7 minutes away. Taxis are available if you prefer not to drive.
Do you cater for different food allergies and dietary needs?
We always have gluten free options and vegetarian options available at breakfast time. We always like to make sure each and every guest is catered for so please let us know in advance if you have other special dietary needs.
Can you arrange taxis to and from Donegal Manor?
Yes, there are several taxi firms in the area and all are familiar with Donegal Manor. Please contact us directly by email for names of taxi companies and prices if you require pick up from airports or bus terminal.
Can I hold a Wedding or Event at Donegal Manor?
Yes of course. Donegal Manor can accommodate up to 40 guests in a total of 15 bedrooms both sleeping and celebrating a wedding or another type of event. There is ample space outside to hire a marquee if your numbers are above 40 guests. There is a surcharge for guests who are not staying in the Manor and are attending a wedding or an event at the Manor. Can I bring a pet?
Sadly we do not allow pets to stay as there are open fields with sheep behind the Manor.
Are children allowed stay in Donegal Manor?
As grandparents ourselves we love to meet children of all ages. We have a large number of very comfortable family bedrooms with one special facility — a king size bed for parents or indeed grandparents, for we know a good night's sleep for everyone means a great day ahead.
Can I change my reservation?
We try to be flexible but some plans and bookings made through specific channels are beyond our control and cannot be changed. Please contact your booking channel for further information. Do you have Wi-Fi?
Yes, free high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout Donegal Manor for all guests. The network covers all bedrooms, common areas, and the grounds.
What’s included with breakfast?
We serve a freshly prepared breakfast each morning featuring locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Options include a traditional full Irish breakfast, fresh pastries, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, and tea and coffee. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are always available. If you have other dietary requirements, please let us know in advance and we’ll be happy to accommodate.
How do I get to Donegal Manor?
Donegal Manor is located in Donegal Town in the northwest of Ireland. City of Derry Airport is the nearest airport, approximately 1.3 hours away. Ireland West Airport Knock is around 1.5 hours by car, and Dublin Airport is approximately 3 hours via the N15. Bus Éireann operates regular services to Donegal Town from Dublin and other major cities. Once in town, the Manor is just a short drive from the centre. What is there to do nearby?
Donegal Manor is perfectly situated for exploring the Wild Atlantic Way and all that County Donegal has to offer. In Donegal Town itself, visit the historic Donegal Castle and browse the Donegal Craft Village. The Bluestack Mountains are on our doorstep for hiking and walking, while beautiful beaches including Rossnowlagh and Murvagh are within easy reach. The area offers world-class surfing, fishing, golf, and horse riding. For a scenic day trip, the Slieve League cliffs, among the highest sea cliffs in Europe, are approximately 45 minutes away. What’s the difference between a room booking and exclusive use?
Donegal Manor offers two ways to book. With a room booking, you reserve one or more of our 15 individually styled bedrooms and enjoy the shared common areas alongside other guests. You have the comfort and privacy of your own room, and breakfast is available depending on your rate. With an exclusive use booking, your group has the entire property to yourselves — all 15 bedrooms, the professional kitchen, laundry room, and all living and dining spaces. Exclusive use is ideal for weddings, family celebrations, group getaways, and corporate retreats, accommodating up to 40 guests.
