Directions coming from Letterkenny, Strabane, Derry and The North

Take the N15 through Balllybofey and Barnes Gap. On leaving Barnes Gap you will see a pub (Biddy O’Barnes) on your left. Continue for another 5 km until you come to a large sign post reading “Donegal Historic Town” and you should see Donegal Manor on your left. Take the side road on the left a few yards after this sign and the next left which leads into our on site car park.

Directions coming from Ballyshanon, Sligo and The South

Take the N15 through Sligo, Ballyshannon and Laghy. Continue past the roundabout for Donegal Town, taking the road for Derry/Killeybegs until you come to another roundabout (Lidl supermarket on your left). Take a right at this roundabout (Third Exit) towards Ballybofey and Lifford (N15). Travel on this road for another 100 metres and take the 2nd exit off this road. Donegal Manor is the next left which leads into the on site car park.

Local Attractions

In additon to the outstanding natural beauty and attractions surrounding Donegal Manor, Donegal Town is a thriving centre for commerce and for an abundance of tourist attractions. It is known as the gourmet capital of Donegal because of the excellent selection of good restaurants and pubs with live music. Donegal Castle, situated in Donegal Town, was built in 1505 by the O’Donnell family who were the ruling Gaelic family in Donegal for over a thousand years until they left Ireland with the Flight of the Earls in 1607. The Castle has recently been renovated and is open daily from mid-June to October between the hours of 9.30am and 6.30pm.

Donegal is a county famous for its breathtaking and spectacular scenery. Donegal Manor is located just outside Donegal Town, offering a unique base with which to explore the local hills and mountains as well as the rest of the north-west and neighbouring counties in Northern Ireland.

Guided historical tours of Donegal Town take place daily during the summer and the Waterbus takes you around Donegal Bay. The ruin of Donegal Abbey, situated on the bay, is open to the public.
