Hi, my name is Sian ( pronounced Shan) and I am a qualified and experienced Home Economics teacher for over 25 years, more recently owner manager of the award winning Donegal Manor in Donegal Town, Co. Donegal Ireland and now hosting Donegal Cookery School.

Since leaving teaching to run my guesthouse I have been busy establishing a very comfortable, personable guesthouse experience for our guests. Sometimes when I had a little time to myself i thought about my happy teaching career and wondered how I could pass on the skills of cooking and home management I have aquired over the last number of years I am truly passionate about teaching and cooking – especially the cooking we all have to aspire to - 7 days a week.

I was finally encouraged to set up a cookery school after I was chosen to appear on RTE 1 TV programme Masters Apprentice ( A Tyrone production) in which I was shown how to set up a cookery school under the expert guidance of a TV chef who already owns a cookery school. The programme was shot in Donegal Manor and I can’t tell you the name of the famous cookery school as I don’t want to spoil the surprise. The programme was intense and challenging with lots of surprises and shocks!! – it should be a very entertaining programme and is being aired early 2009. I will keep you informed as to the date.

So that’s it. Oh! And I’m also a mum to 3 great (hungry) boys and to 1 very special angel –John. Not forgetting my lovely husband – who doesn’t cook –yet!, and my mum who does and spent hours with me in the kitchen passing on her love of baking when I was a child.

The website mymenusmaid under construction will offer practical solutions to family cooking – taking out the stress of shopping, preparing , cooking and serving healthy family meals 7 days a week. I hope you will become a member of my club.

Magnificent Manor…excellent king sized bed in the room, with plenty of space and a very fresh bathroom with great shower. Will definitely be back!!

Everyone at the hotel was made to feel like a welcomed member of their family and not just a guest. Sian, her husband and two sons are absolutely charming and courteous. They engage with all their guests showing real interest with an amazing Irish welcome.

Rooms were spotless and comfortable, food excellent. Fab location, customer service was second to none. If ever I got inspiration to start up my own B&B, it was here… PERFECTION!!

We booked in for one night but ended up staying two. When we arrived we were upgraded to a Deluxe room! Real homely but professionally run guest house. Feels more like a a hotel! We will be going back again.

We have just arrived back from a two night stay in Donegal Manor. It was much better than the hotel that we had stayed at the previous night which was more expensive! Everything was first class. The bedrooms were spacious, with comfortable beds and facilities. Breakfast was good, and Sian the host was extremely charming and helpful. Many thanks for a wonderful stay!

We have travelled all over Ireland and found Donegal Manor to be our favourite hotel. Everything was superb, the rooms, the food, the cleanliness was second to none. Sian and her family were so friendly and helpful. The information she gave us was spot on. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Donegal. Cannot wait to return.

Donegal Manor was a great base to explore and visit Donegal Town. With a brilliant and helpful host in Sian and a full Irish breakfast in your tummy every morning before going out, we felt that we could not go wrong. We drove to more expensive hotels in the area and felt that value for money could definitely not be beaten! Thanks to all for a memorable stay!
